Antique German Siegerin Margarine footed plinth or slab
A very rare antique German shop display plinth (or slab), decorated around the rim with black under -glaze advertising typography on a red band for Siegerin Margarine of Bahrenfeld. This lovely footed pediment is made of white ironstone pottery with a flared rim, it was produced at the beginning of the 20thC to display blocks of margarine on the counter top, the red flash of colour drawing the eye to black lettering that reads "Siegerin-Margarine wie Tafel-Butter" (Champion margarine like table butter). The opposing side of the rim has the manufacturers name - A.L Mohr, G.m.b.H, Bahrenfeld.

Some minor fleabites/flakes around the edge of the transfer on the rim, with a small flake professionally restored on the rim above the 'E' of Bahrenfeld.
