Large Victorian Bartlett ‘Welsh Back Bristol’ Scale Plate
An early white ironstone scale plate, decorated with an impressive under glaze black transfer for Bartlett & Sons - Manufacturers of grocers fittings, Welch Back Bristol.
With advertisements from as far back as 1852 stating the address for the business as '3 Welsh Back, Bristol', this scale plate was from a machine manufactured circa 1880. The large transfer is quite rarely seen, with the bold name and address typography in a rope twist roundel, framing Justitia in the middle.
28cm diameter (11")
1.4cm thick (1/2")
Some light wear around the edge and usage marks commensurate with age, but otherwise perfect original condition with no damage or restoration.
