Antique French salt glaze stoneware Rillette pot - earthenware confit jar

An early 19thC French antique stoneware Rillette or confit pot, produced for a charcuterie with a size stamp of ‘8’ just beneath the rim.

Modelled with a rounded body, flat top rim and a loop handle, it is finished in a reddish brown salt glaze and is a relatively large pot of its type.

Dimensions:

12cm rim diameter

14.3cm tall

14.3cm wide to handle

Condition:

There is are some old scrapes and glaze losses around the rim, along with an old chip above the impressed 8, and a shallow scrape on the top of the rim on the back side near the handle.

There are some firing faults and imperfections, including a glaze fault beneath the 8 and some scratches under the foot.
