Antique ironstone Carbolic Tooth Paste pot lid and base - S. Maw, Son & Sons

A Victorian white ironstone chemist pot lid and original base, made for Carbolic Tooth Paste from S. Maw, Son & Sons. Aldersgate Street, London.
“For cleaning & preserving the teeth and gums”
A very stylish and decorative advertising transfer, which utilises a variety of typography styles, with the ‘Tooth Paste’ lettering bordered by a scrolling banner, along with a double pinstripe border and the central trade mark roundel for Maw.

Condition:
The lid has some greyish staining around the flange, along with light age related wear and marks but no damage and is perfect otherwise.
The base has a small old chip on the shoulder, along with a couple of other tiny nicks and faults. Otherwise is has some staining, crazing and wear commensurate with age, but still displays very nicely and fits the lid well.
