Antique John Lusty Turtle Soup stoneware pot
An antique stoneware John Lusty Turtle Soup pot. A very attractive storage jar in beige and brown glaze, the face is decorated with a black under glaze transfer showing two royal appointment warrants for King George V and Queen Alexandra, along with arched typography for John Lusty Ltd. Turtle Merchants - By Appointment, London, E.14.
Modelled with a dot moulded band around the neck, the reverse side of the pot is impressed with a size stamp of 10T, along with black typography for the price - charged 1/.
Offered at a bargain price due to a crack in the side, it would otherwise be a superb example and displays very nicely from the front despite the damage.
Dimensions:
12.2cm diameter
16cm tall
Condition:
There is a crack that runs from the rim down into the foot, but it still displays nicely and is priced to reflect this. The pot is very clean otherwise, with light age related wear and marks.
