Antique French 'A La Samaritaine' advertising plate - KG Luneville
An antique French white ironstone plate, decorated with a blue pictorial transfer of the 'Ancienne Samaritaine' pump house, installed on the Pont-Neuf at the beginning of the 17th century and the monument that lends its name to the famous French department store.
Produced to advertise the 'La Samaritaine' department store in the 19thC, the rim of the plate is also decorated with a border of little pictorial panels depicting wares that the department store sold, including clothing & hats, clocks, crockery & glassware, tools, furniture and toys.
The plate is moulded with a concentric swirling relief pattern in the surface, which surrounds the flat pictorial panel in the middle. Made by KG Luneville, with the underside of the plate bearing their foliate maker's transfer.

Some light age related wear and marks, but no damage.
