Fortnum & Mason Finest Astrachan Caviar stoneware pot with lid
An Edwardian stoneware caviar pot, produced for Fortnum & Mason imported finest Astrachan Caviar. The face is fully decorated with black under glaze advertising transfer for the brand, which includes their royal appointment warrant and address of 182 Piccadilly W.
A mid size number 5 example produced by Doulton Lambeth, with their oval impressed mark on the side of the body. The pot is modelled with a notched rim that would have secured a stoneware lid affixed by a twisting metal claw clasp. The stoneware portion of the lid is intact for display, without the metal claw.
Dimensions:
8.1cm body
7.5cm rim diameter
8.5cm tall (pot)
9.5cm tall lidded
Condition:
There is a small flake on the rim on the back side of the pot, along with a small chip out of the underside of the Doulton mark on the foot.
Otherwise the pot is in nice condition with light age related wear and a few small marks.
Complete with the original stoneware lid, although this no longer has the twisting claw clasp attached. There is a small chip on the edge of the rim, and some staining and wear, but it displays nicely sat on top of the pot.
