Small antique oil painting of terrier dogs & guinea pigs - Winsor Newton canvas

A delightful small antique oil painting on canvas, depicting a pair of mischievous terriers contemplating the fate of two caged guinea pigs. A detailed and characterful study, executed on a diminutive canvas and housed in a simple gilt frame, the reverse of the canvas bears a late 19th/early 20thC retailer's stamp for London based artist suppliers Winsor & Newton. The bottom left corner of the painting bears the artist's signature.

Condition:
Wear, marks and slight crackle to the paint commensurate with age. There is a small hole in the canvas on the shoulder of the left dog, which has been sympathetically touched in at some point and does not overly detract.
