Antique Dutch wooden laundry tray - Blue Mangelbak
A large antique wooden tray/trug, painted blue & white with scrolling shaped cutouts in the chamfered sides. A particularly decorative example with scrolling mouldings along the top edge of each end.
Known in the Netherlands as a Mangelbak (Mangle trough), it would have been used like a laundry basket to catch linens passed through a mangle after washing.
They now make for lovely rustic decorative items, ideal as a table centrepiece or even used for their original purpose holding linens and cloths.
